Environmental Showcase

All of us who live along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries have experienced our cherished waterways and reveled in the landscapes and wildlife that has helped define and shape of our character and identity for generations. Protecting these natural resources is a cause that has long united Americans from all walks of life and political stripes. To hunters, anglers, hikers, birders, wildlife watchers, boaters, climbers, campers, cyclists, gardeners, farmers, Chesapeake Bay stewards, and other outdoor enthusiasts, this conservation ethic has evolved and is now integral to our Maryland heritage. As Marylanders we share a sacred duty and obligation to protect and build upon our conservation heritage in the Chesapeake region for the sake of wildlife, ourselves, our neighbors and, most of all, for future generations.

Fish & Men

The survival of the fishing industry is on the line in this passionate, revelatory doc that exposes deepening threats to local fishing communities and public health. Generations of fishermen from Gloucester, Mass struggle with a Catch -22 dilemma (“can’t stay in” and “can’t get out”) due to “unschooled” consumer demand that conflicts with ocean supply – Americans eat only 5 varieties of fish, 90% of which is imported. Celebrated chefs like Eric Ripert of Le Bernardin are leading a new Catch-of-the-Day revival focused on local, sustainable fish to diversify consumer palates and honor those who risk their lives to harvest from the sea.
