Kate McLoughlin is a cynical Irish stand-up comedian whose lively shtick on stage belies her beleaguered state of despair at home, but suddenly her nagging death wish is trumped by a breast cancer diagnosis. All her exit strategies are foiled by a superb ensemble cast of four female chemo friends who are each trying in their own way to survive. Cancer is no laughing matter but after losing her sister to the disease, writer/director Ruth Meehan drew inspiration from author Anne Gildea’s memoir, “I Have Cancer, What’s YOUR Excuse?” to deliver this emotionally truthful dramedy filled with irreverent Irish wit.
